    Un jardin baptisé Toussaint Louverture a été inauguré, le lundi 10 mai 2021, en plein cœur de la ville de Paris en mémoire de Toussaint Louverture par des dirigeants français à l’occasion de la journée des mémoires de la traite.

    À l’occasion de la célébration de la journée des mémoires de la traite, de l’esclavage et de leurs abolitions , la mairesse de la ville de Paris, Mme Anne Hidalgo a procédé à l’inauguration du Jardin dédié à Toussaint Louverture au cœur de Paris, plus précisément dans le 20e arrondissement en face du 35ème rue Duris. La cérémonie s’est déroulée, entre autres, en présence de l’ambassadeur d’Haïti en France, Josué Dahomey et Jean–Marc Ayrault, un ex chef du gouvernement français.

    Le chef de l’État français, Emmanuel Macron de son côté a déclaré que : Il y a 20 ans, la République française, fidèle à sa devise, devenait le premier État à reconnaitre la traite et l’esclavage en tant que crime contre l’Humanité. Bien avant, Toussaint Louverture puis Victor Schoelcher montrèrent la voie. Nous ne les oublions pas.
